Tellmebye is a web tool designed for people who want to plan the inheritance of their entire digital legacy, thereby facilitating the delivery of documents, messages, memories or content to other people.
You can also state your last wishes and provide any information that helps your relatives with certain processes after your death by delivering, if you wish, information on your insurance and coverages, a PDF copy of your will, what to do with your body, people you want to be notified, advanced directives and much more.
We have put a great deal of effort into our main goal, which is to increase security to a maximum.
Tellmebye uses a strong 256 bit HTTPs SSL encryption system developed by the company Thawte to create an encryption tunnel between the user and our servers that is compatible with 99% of all browsers, and a series of configurable internal tools to prevent the theft of your data through KeyLogger, Sniffer or Spyware software since, like bank systems, we have a virtual random numerical keyboard for entering security codes that prevents the keyboard movements being captured.
Another security aspect is that the website is housed at one of Spain’s most important hosting companies, which has all the last generation tools.
With regard to user data, we use a multiple encryption system that is different for each person, since it consists of several in situ encryption codes.
To improve security even more, but from your computer, we also recommend using the best browser and thereby preventing potential security holes. Tellmebye recommends using Mozilla Firefox, which you can download from this link:
Tellmebye will know you have died because one of the administrators entered by you will notify your death. This is why it is very important to enter people close to you who you can rely on in that section. The notification process of a user’s death consists of several steps to avoid human error, and in each of them it is clear that this is what we are doing.
Tellmebye will send a notification email to the deceased to inform him that someone has notified his death and in order to have 48 hours during which his content cannot be released.
Remember that a false notification of death of another person can be a crime.
It will release all the data as left by the user after 48 hours have elapsed as a margin of potential error.
It will deliver the last wishes of the deceased to the administrators.
Users must bear in mind that the publication of content with information and data relating to third parties may not be done if these have not expressly authorised their publication, and may be immediately removed by Tellmebye.
Tellmebye keeps each user’s data until he dies and once his entire legacy has been delivered, the account will remain active for one year, during which time each heir will have had enough time to make a security copy of his inheritance.
You must notify us using the contact form and you will receive instructions for providing information reliably proving that you are the person you say you are. The company will take appropriate measures to resolve the problem. This would involve phishing, which is a crime that violates the right to privacy established in the Spanish Constitution.
Tellmebye reminds you that there is a legal framework protecting the individual from the violation of digital identity rights.
The home page has a section where you can retrieve your password. When you access this section, we will send an email to your email address so you can create a new password.
When you try to log into your account and you make a mistake more than five times, the system protects itself automatically by deactivating your account for a period of time.
Even though we used a last generation language to develop the website and achieved maximum compatibility with old browsers, you may not be able to see Tellmebye properly.
We recommend using the Mozilla Firefox browser, which you can download from the following link:
Each website has its own legal conditions and, as the owner of such accounts, you must be familiar with them and revise them. Tellmebye only provides the tool so you can decide what you leave, how you leave it and to whom, thereby freeing Tellmebye from all legal liability for whatever content you transfer.
Transfers are like boxes where you can keep any digital content you own and can choose a certain release or immediate delivery date and to whom you want to deliver the chosen content. The purpose of these transfers is to avoid losing such content or to deliver important information.
As many as you like, the only limitation being the amount of free GB your user account has available. Remember that FREE accounts have 2GB of free storage and PRO accounts have 5GB. When your free space is almost used up, you will be given the chance to buy more GB.
Any kind of digital file, regardless of its extension or operating system. It does not matter to us if the file contains photos, videos, documents, memories, wishes, passwords or a list of debtors. We give you full freedom to decide what is really important to you and what you want to keep.
When you configure your transfers, you can choose from two release modalities: one immediate and the other by setting a date. The release in either case would be carried out after notification by any of your selected administrators on the platform, either immediately or scheduled, depending on the day and month chosen.
The number of recipients is unlimited and it is the user who decides to whom and to how many.
It is your decision whether you notify or not. We give you every chance to decide what to do. You can notify or not notify, even edit the message that is sent to recipients to personalise it, since we received many suggestions regarding the previous version to have the option to edit the message.
The administrators cannot see your transfers, unless you have left one for them. The administrators only have access to what you write in the wish zone. We understand that an administrator is a person you trust and, therefore, someone very close to you, but the privacy of the transfers is paramount.
After any of your administrators confirm your death in our system and the 48 hour security period has elapsed, all the recipients you have named to receive part of your digital inheritance will receive a notification by email with the necessary instructions. All the transfers will then be accessible from the platform, from where you may download them in files compressed to be stored on your own equipment.
The period of time can vary depending on the limitations or capabilities of our servers, but we have set a minimum time of 12 months so that your recipients can manage their security copies and download all transfers.
This is an additional 4-digit password that reinforces the privacy of any transfers that have this option activated, in case at any point you leave your Tellmebye account open and do not want someone to start snooping.
A wish is a box where you can leave your written decisions and orders regarding anything you want to be done after your death. The intention is that someone carries out your requests in order to execute your wishes. You can leave your wishes in different formats: written, video or image.
Only the people you add to the platform as administrators can see your wishes and only after your death. It is obvious that you have to add people in the “My administrators” zone who are very close to you and highly trusted.
The most common wishes are: what text, video or music I want for my funeral ceremony, what kind of ceremony, what do to with my body, where I want to be buried, aspects of my religion, who to inform and who not to inform, who to leave my pet to, what to do with my ashes, etc.
This is a document wherein an individual details the instructions that should be taken into account when his state of health does not allow him to express such details, especially with regard to medical treatments and the subsequent destination of his body and organs.
If we create our living will using the “with witnesses” form and we submit it to the official bodies, such as hospitals, with the ID cards of the witnesses, YES, it is free.
The “notarised” form avoids us having to use three witnesses, which notably simplifies the process. This model is only notarisable as indicated by the option and its registration is not free.
The only way to submit the form correctly to any body or notary public is by completing all the data correctly. Wherever we submit the form will revise the data entered and can annul the validity of the document if such details do not match or are incorrect.
Witnesses cannot be below legal age, second-degree relatives or be linked by patrimonial relations, such as grandparents, grandchildren, siblings or siblings-in-law. When you submit the document, you should have compared photocopies or originals of your ID card and those of the witnesses.
We have made it possible for this to be done by leaving the form open to potential changes depending on your community and the legality of the zone in which you reside. We know of cases where persons who have added instructions to be treated with natural medicine. In some cases, the document was accepted and in others it was not.
Because the document, in principle, must have the date of submittal and that from when you start completing your form until you submit it, several days or even months will probably go by.
When we submit our document to any body in any of its formats (notarised or with witnesses), some weeks later we will receive a collated letter accrediting the registration of our document, thereby giving it validity. We recommend scanning this received document and uploading it to the platform so that your administrators, should they require it, have it available.
Due to the existing high volume of organ donations and cremations in recent years due to the economic situation, we know of real cases where the deceased’s wish has been ignored even with the certified document. The submittal of the document by a relative removes the possibility of error or omission and ensures the correct execution of our wishes.
Received is the zone where we access all the digital inheritances and content that other people have left us as part of their legacy. We can only see the boxes and content if the person has died.
The wishes flagged by the heart icon are only visible and legible, while the transfers flagged by the folder icon are fully downloadable.
All the content, both wishes and transfers, will be available to be read and downloaded for a minimum period of 24 months. The system will also always notify the user during the final 30 days to remind him of the expiry and to give him time to make the copy.
A private or public space where family and friends can remember their loved ones by posting texts, condolences, photos, videos and memories.
The memorial walls are only available for PRO accounts. FREE accounts only have access when a funeral home delivers a memorial wall of someone who has died at its facilities or when a user with a PRO account creates a memorial and adds another user as an administrator with a FREE account.
Access to public walls is totally free, open, created and designed for practically uncontrolled access, while private walls have a mandatory access password initially designed to maintain the privacy of the deceased’s family and close friends.
While this is a technical term, crassly put, this is what people will have to write after https://tellmebye.com/xxxxxxx in order to locate the person. The simpler the URL, the easier it will be to access and locate.
Example: if the deceased is called Francisco Fernández García, we add
“francisco_fernandez_garcia” so the URL to access his memorial wall will be:
https://tellmebye.com/ francisco_fernandez_garcia
If we activate supervision of publications, each time content is published on the memorial wall we receive a notification email and have to access the platform to authorise or deny it. This provides greater security, but also represents a considerable workload. The memorial wall administrators can also deactivate this option and then revise the publications to deactivate or delete any they deem inappropriate.
Anyone, with absolutely no limitations. Just enter his email address and invite him. He will receive an email to access the platform. It is always much simpler if supervision of the walls is shared among several administrators.
Public walls require no password to access them and most of the options are established for the most used and diffused wall, which is the private one.
Yes. Just be responsible and create walls for people who are dead or close to you. Be respectful and do not create walls for third parties, since you could potentially commit a crime.
You have several options to do this. One of them is by sending an email with the password and full URL of the wall of the deceased. If you wish, you can also use the share button you will find inside the wall. Just be careful not to share a private wall on a public wall of Facebook or another social network. Whenever you can, use the options to privately share with your contacts.
The memorial walls will be active as long as one of the administrators keeps his PRO account active. Should no administrator keep his PRO account active, any relative or friend with access to the wall of the deceased could pay the annual fee to maintain it, even after the wall has been closed for a while.
Yes, anyone can do this. All you have to do is fill out a form with the contact details and indicate the URL you want to report. Our lawyers will get in touch with you to revise the documents and to proceed, if necessary, to close the memorial wall.
All personal data entered on our platform is afforded maximum privacy in accordance with the LOPD. Remember that in order to generate notarised documents such as the statement of advanced directive (SAD) or your digital will, you should complete all the data correctly.
In many countries, insurance companies are not bound to inform relatives of the deceased about what insurance he had. When you add this information, all your administrators will receive the information they need to process your insurance cover.
You can delete your account whenever you like, without problems or complications. Unlike other platforms, we do not hide this option from you. All your content will be deleted.
By activating this option, you can control from which computers access to your account is authorised. Each time someone tries to log into your Tellmebye account from another device, you will be sent a notification by email to authorise or cancel it. This option provides an improved level of security.
A session closing automatically every x minutes is activated to avoid you forgetting to close your account, leaving it open and enabling other people to access your private data.
While a Tellmebye account can be accessed through a Google account by activating this option, it will always be mandatory to enter the password, even if we opened the Google account in another tab of the browser.
The virtual keyboard is another additional security measure that reinforces the privacy of the data entered on our website. It will be mandatory to enter the chosen password for any elements that have the virtual keyboard activated in order to display them or amend them while our account is being used. It is not, therefore, a password that the recipient or heir of the content needs to know or enter, but rather it is for when the owner of an account wants to access in order to edit or consult something already created.
The print out of the digital will is automatically generated by obtaining the data from our user profile and generating a PDF document that is compatible to be notarised by any notary public in Spain. Any question about the legality of this document can be consulted at the Official College of Notaries of Catalonia for the attention of the governing body. Currently, we are working with other countries to make the document compatible with their regulations.
The notary public locator makes the official notaries search engine available to the user by opening the official website and tool according to the country you need. If a country with no agreement is selected, Google Maps is used to show notaries public with no search criteria other than the country.
There are two types of account: FREE accounts and PRO accounts. In previous (beta) versions, accounts for life were activated, which have been respected for persons who bought them, but are currently not available.
FREE accounts
2GB of storage. Transfers, wishes and living will (SAD).
PRO accounts
5GB of storage. Transfers, wishes, living will (SAD) and memorial walls.
For the payment of PRO accounts, we use a TPV virtual payment gateway of Caixa, one of the world’s most secure banks and the most used in the area of eCommerce.
